Valentine’s Day

The last couple years I posted and reposted something I wrote about what Valentine’s Day means to the broken hearted.

I don’t think I’m going to post it this year.

So, from what I remember about St. Valentine, he fell in love with the daughter of his jailor, and wrote her a love note on the eve of his martyrdom. Of course, he didn’t get the girl.

Besides the “Hallmark Holiday” status, what do we expect on Valentine’s Day? I have a few friends who are really upset that they don’t have a Valentine when that day rolls around. It seems to be a time when we again focus on the “haves” and “have nots”.

And worse, for the “have nots” are we supposed to pretend we “have”?

I think it is sad that lots of people focus on whether or not they have that special someone on Valentine’s day. I like to think of it as a holiday that we celebrate love. Love your kids, love you life, love your friends…

    Chocolate and some perfume.

Oh, and some years (in fact, a LOT of years) I bought them for myself to feel better about this day. (Especially the ones in 1988 and 1989.)

I never worry about the have nots - they are too full of self pity to be further encouraged!

Focus on preying on emotionally vulnerable women. It is a target rich environment for bachelors - happy hunting!
